Our away trip to Holcombe proved every bit as tough as expected especially have no substitutes, ending in a 6–1 defeat,but not without plenty of drama, effort, and a few moments we’ll be talking about for a while.The tone was set early when George provided the day’s first moment of comic relief by spectacularly tripping over absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, the entertainment value didn’t translate into momentum, and Holcombe capitalised with quick, clinical finishing. Under relentless pressure at the back. Holcombe’s rotations and off-ball movement forced constant marking fixes, but despite being dragged all over the pitch, the defence kept their composure and made several smart moves that prevented the scoreline from growing even earlier.One of the highlights came courtesy of Simon, who produced the kind of run that deserves its own replay angle. Picking up the ball near the centre spot, he carved through Holcombe’s midfield and defence, eventually some how wining a short corner.In true Miles fashion, he produced a well-deserved goal from the rebound of the short corner and first for the pilgrims.Despite flashes of quality, a mixture of defensive fatigue and Holcombe pressure saw more goals conceded late on. Still, the team fought to the end, even carving out two more chances that found the post rather than the net.A 6–1 loss tells only part of the story. The team showed resilience, created chances, and produced some genuinely impressive individual moments.
