The Batchelor-Coop Millers juggernaut rolled through the High Weald to face Tunbridge Wells this week.

With their six-million-dollar man, Captain Sharratt, sidelined (again), his dulcet tones were only to be heard from the touchline this week. Nonetheless, he inveigled his team to improve their intensity from the very start of the game. Heeding their impresario’s words and making the most of a fast pitch, the visitors forced T-Wells onto the back foot from the push back and soon found themselves three up, from successive short corners, in the opening fifteen minutes.

The first, a fine drag flick from Hodson junior. The second, a nice deflection on the left post, which went high into the net from Will Hanys. The third, another deflection (right post this time) from Alex Francis. With plenty of chances also having been created from open play, half-time was, therefore, a comfortable affair – although discussion centred around maintaining intensity and (for one member of the team, at least) reducing hatchet-job stick tackles!

T-Wells regrouped and reorganised at half-time and came out with a higher press after the break. While the Millers still dominated, the game did become a little more end-to-end at times. A couple of early chances for the visitors were cleared ‘last-gasp’ off the line, and the Wells keeper continued to make some good saves throughout the half. While there were only limited opportunities for the home side, they did eventually manage to take advantage of a lucky rebound off Sam in goal, towards the very end, to deny the Millers a clean sheet.

In other news, concerns continue to grow for Ollie Neal, whose fines (for persistent unauthorised absence) have been amassing for several weeks now. It is feared that his recent ‘domestication’ is a contributing factor, and a significant reward is being offered* for any information which leads to his return to the Miller’s fold.
