Dearest Diary,
For some, travel began on Thursday the 9th of October to get to Spencer, while for others it started today at 11am from Kent. On arrival Susannah started with a riveting team talk.
Quarter 1 We started with a high press and great intensity they were challenged, and so were we. A brilliant start to the match, we set the pace.
Quarter 2 The same energy carried through from the first quarter. However, they managed to find a foot in our D, and a short corner was given. They scored off the far post annoying, yes, but we didn’t dwell on it. Heads stayed high, energy stayed strong, and we brought the game right back to them.
Quarter 3 Not much happened, but spirits remained high and game faces stayed on. (You could say it was the calm before the banana storm.)
Quarter 4
With nothing to lose, we really brought the game to them. Loads of running, structured play, and passes that actually connected something had to come from it. A few baseline runs were made (the ones we practiced on Wednesday #UpSusannah), and Sophie, with her speed, managed to outrun the oppo, do her signature banana-shaped baseline run, and win us a short corner.
We gave them a taste of their own medicine Kate found the ball on the close post, and it hit the back of the net. That’s it. 1–1. We kept the pressure on, but the match finished there. You could say we snatched the game from them.
Final Score: 1–1
Special mention to Holly for the incredible shift she put in up front constant running, leading, and never giving up. Spectacular skill and endless energy, top-tier performance. A well deserved Pom Pom
I now find myself in a car, dressed as a banana, surrounded by a bunch of snatches arguing about sharing food. Hilarious, considering they’re all mums teaching the kids of the future. But all is well. Massive congrats to everyone for today’s match. #SuperDuperBananaSplitProud 🍌
