Dear Diary
We’re backkkk. Did you miss us ? Because we missed you 🫦
Newly promoted, we were eager to get going. With an average age of 20 and a squad of 15, we had legs to propel us up into this league. A positive team talk from captain Rachel and goalie Becs, we knew we had to be switched on from the first whistle.
First quarter saw some strong attack from our defence of Yaz and Jina up into the midfield of Rachel and Dave.
In the second quarter, Woking woke us up with their conversion of a corner. Score was 1-0 going into halftime. Enough said. As coach Tom has taught us, ugly goals = ugly win = 3 points. We channelled this today and sadly scored no pretty goals.
HOWEVER, ugly goals ? We know all about them🤪
1st goal: A lovely hit from Millie and a cheeky touch from Lottie, the ball glided across the D to EJ who slotted home an upright reverse. Score = 1-1
2nd goal: Quick thinking from Alma to take a rapid free hit and a beautiful baseline run and pass across to Millie, who connected with the ball for a 6 that every cricketer would be jealous of. Score = 2-1
One highlight of the fourth quarter (aside from our second goal) was Yaz being rugby tackled by the opposition. She (not Yaz) was shown the yellow cheese slice and that was her game over as there was only 4 minutes left.
A special mention to Ava, Alma, Antonia, Lily, Lottie, Lydia, Maria and Umaiza who all made their 2’s debuts today and smashed it !

MOM: Lydia
DOD: Jina
Green cards: Dave + Umaiza

See you next week !
XOXO
