On a chilly afternoon, with temperatures dropping and a cold wind sweeping across the pitch, the Canterbury Ladies 4s welcomed Sevenoaks for a thrilling encounter at home. Once again, the team fielded a youthful side, with a mix of energy and enthusiasm, taking on a strong and experienced Sevenoaks team.

The match was a tactical battle in the middle of the park, with both teams vying for possession and trying to create scoring opportunities. The end-to-end action kept the game exciting, but Canterbury’s defense, anchored by the commanding presence of Alex, remained resolute and thwarted Sevenoaks’ attacking threats. Despite the opposition’s persistence, Canterbury’s defense held firm, not allowing a single goal throughout the match.

Both sides had a few goal-scoring opportunities, but Canterbury’s skillful and fast-paced 2-touch hockey in attack nearly paid off on several occasions with Poppy making some excellent runs through. The team came close to breaking the deadlock, particularly in the last 15 minutes, when Canterbury’s younger players began to step up a gear. As the old heads on the team stood by and watched, the youngsters gave it their all, with one final chance narrowly missing the target by mere centimeters.

In the end, the match concluded in a thrilling 0-0 draw. While there were no goals to celebrate, it was a hard-fought battle, and a valuable point to keep for Canterbury as they look ahead to the rest of the season.
