We arrived at a very wet and windy Westlands School and thankfully managed to take refuge in a school building before the game. Had a good team talk and went out to the pitch to warm up and crack on with the game. We didn’t know what to expect as Gore Court had asked to move the start time due to availability! As expected there was a number of their large squad who doubled up!
The game started very even and it was clear the sides were well matched. There was some good play from both sides but the fitness of our youngsters were no match to the fitness of the ones who had doubled up and it wasn’t long before Kai got the opening goal from a nice pass. From this we got stronger and stronger, worked hard on positioning and really stretched the pitch to allow for longer smarter passes pulling Gore Court apart. Ed playing in midfield had an excellent game distributing the ball around the team.
Other goals came from Rory, Ed and Wilf.
Great play from everyone on the team who are really gelling. Progress for the back to hockey players has been amazing and the juniors are really starting to develop into senior hockey players. Excellent game and great performance. Very enjoyable from everyone!
