From the first whistle, Canterbury’s defense stood firm against Ashford’s persistent attacks. Although Ashford dominated possession early in the game, they struggled to penetrate the well-organized and resilient backline of Canterbury. The standout performer in goal, Georgia, showcased her exceptional skills with some jaw-dropping saves that kept Ashford at bay.
However, Ashford’s relentless pressure paid off when they were awarded a short corner, which they converted on their second attempt after 23 minutes, marking their first score of the match. Despite this setback, Canterbury remained resolute, and the half concluded with the scoreline reading 0-1 in favor of Ashford.
During half-time, team manager Lizzie delivered an inspirational talk, urging the players to harness their determination as they entered the second half.

Strong plays from Mimi and Sue illustrated Canterbury’s growing momentum, yet Ashford’s defense proved impenetrable. The commitment from players like Kate, who made a sliding tackle, demonstrated the team’s fighting spirit.
Unfortunately, Ashford was awarded another short corner, which they successfully converted to widen their lead to 0-2.
