Unfortunately, one to forget for the Batchelor-Coop Millers this week in the days early game on AW1. Facing a strong Folkestone side, placed second in the league, the home side managed to keep parity for most of the match; and with no score at half time a result was definitely still within reach. However, a six-goal second half proved more entertaining for the neutral spectator while leaving skipper Sharratt’s hopes of an upset lying in ruins.

After Folkestone had taken a two goal lead early in the second half, the Millers pulled a goal back, through an Ollie Neal short corner strike, to keep their hopes of some points alive. Regrettably, a lax last 15minutes, as the home side pushed forward looking for an equaliser, left gaps at the back which Folkestone were able to exploit and give them a larger winning margin than perhaps was merited.

The Millers had engaged the services of a pitch-side manager this week. However, the unnamed individual’s tenure was short-lived as skipper Sharratt swung the managerial axe post-match. This brief dalliance with a power-sharing agreement was enough to prove that he should restore his familiar totalitarian regime for next weeks fixture against Herne Bay! Man of the match honours were awarded to Simon Hurlow this week and thanks go to both Phil and Ben Lawford (or was it his doppelganger….) for umpiring duties.
