Match report:

Canterbury 1-4 Exeter A hard fought battle at home.

After a tough loss the week before, and a hard week of training the boys were ready to get the first win of the season yet. Learning from our mistake in last weeks game, the boys started strong bringing intensity right from the off. An exciting first quarter with some chances however it ended in 0-0, and a green card for Sam Barrett going into the 2nd quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw Canterbury still applying the pressure to a good Exeter defence which lead to a corner, which Callum Brownlea narrowly missed hitting the post. However Exeter got the better of the quarter as they slotted one to make it 1-0. Going into the halftime both sides were pretty even showing an exciting game to come.

After some tactics from the coaches at half time the boys were ready to make an impact in the second half.

In the 3rd quarter Canterbury continued to create opportunities, getting a short corner which after some questionable umpiring the Canterbury captain expressed his feelings, resulting in him recieving a green card. Exeter capitalised with an extra man scoring another goal from a penalty corner.

With the score at 2-0 going into the 4th quarter Canterbury had to put up a fight to try and save the game. Both teams were playing end-to-end, fast paced and exciting hockey. Eventually Exeter got past the Canterbury defence and Nathan Sumner got himself a green card from a careless tackle. Exeter again making use of their extra man capitalised on this and won a short corner which they successfully executed, to make it 3-0. After an Exeter player shoved Tom Degiovanni he received a yellow card, Canterbury now up a player and can keep applying the pressure. With some good communication from the bench with Tom Richford, Canterbury had some good build up play which lead to a great finish by Callum Brownlea, smashing it into the bottom left corner to make the score 3-1. Ben young felt he was missing out with the car
