The match started in torrential downpour, push back beginning with Canterbury taking most of possession. Against the run of play Sevenoaks managed to breach Canterbury’s defense, securing an early lead. The bad conditions worsened with a period of hail proving to be quite harsh on the body, making the contest between the teams even harder. Sevenoaks’ defense proved to be a formidable obstacle, thwarting Canterbury’s every advance with a steadfast resolve.
The first half ended with 0-1 to Sevenoaks, with Canterbury hungry for an equaliser Lizzie and Alex gave the team some motivating encouragement. The second half began, both teams equal in possession and attack power. With neither team breaking through the other’s defence. There were a couple link up plays between the midfield getting a good way up the pitch, only to be shut down by Sevenoaks strong tackles.
Despite Canterbury’s valiant efforts, and numerous shots on goal we were unable to get the ball over the line, ultimately leading to their defeat.
