The Boys after a long journey arrived to bright sunshine and after a little sunbathe for Broggy, were ready for todays encounter. The team started on the front foot threatening the goal however, the other side struck first which left the score 1-0 after the first quarter.
Determined to pick ourselves up we went again in the second quarter. However, after multiple counter attacks not being able to capitalise the opponents were able to from a short corner and another goal from open play. Despite this setback we remained optimistic and the belief that we were still in the game was circulating.
Later proven to be true when Carney found him self up front neatly tidying up a chance saved from Callum, providing further support for the claim that Carney should be a forward. After this the boys intensity picked up and truly believed we could go on to win this game. Thanks to our preparation our fitness was clear to see as the other side soon began to tire.
Going into quarter 4 we were determined to steal another goal and make the game interesting, and after 7 minutes Jack slotted home another drag flick in the bottom left corner. This left the final ten minutes to muster the energy to score another. However, after hitting the post and some awful umpiring which saw craig piled on in the D and Broggy exclaiming ‘that is always a stroke’. The team were unable to find that final vital goal leaving the score 3-2. Despite the disappointing result we remain optimistic for the game next week at home against Richmond. Special mention to Tom Degiovanni for a motm performance in midfield.
