Can’t play hockey without a stick Lauren…
Attacking half back MoM Freya didn’t mind though, it meant she wasn’t DoD for once!
Not even the rain could dampen our spirits and Mel didn’t even wear her thermals (saving them for o35s!)
Tough opposition but we were up for the challenge – Barnes needed to watch out, Barnsey’s back!
Everyone huddled together in the freezing cold portacabin to hear Ollie’s inspirational team talk
Rocking her black eye from training Lottie arrived having already done some sightseeing in central London
Beginning the game by losing the toss but confusing the oppo by making them switch ends, Captain Pinney showed she meant business
Unfortunately magical Maz and his Canterbury scarf couldn’t help us as we went 1-0 down early on
Relentless running from Eleni kept everyone on their toes when the ball hit the post
Yet we went into half time 1-0 down, could have been more if it wasn’t for MoM Becs in goal
Very much still in the game was the team talk, Becca was feeling positive going into the second half!
“Sweets anyone?” said Huw, “don’t mind if I do” said Griggsy, helping herself to one off the floor
Bringing up the intensity at the start of the second half, Andy sent some lovely balls down the line
Abbie and Amy battled hard in the midfield, against a well organised press
Racing against time, Iona carried well at the circle edge to create some great attacking opportunities
Nothing quite went our way and the game finished 2-0 to Barnes
Everyone had a cuddle after the game, grateful for the support from Aurora and our super fans (the parents)
So heads up, ready for a big week of training ahead of Holcombe at home but in the meantime, if you need a laugh, ask Lorna about her T-Rex impression.
