It was a grey and humid day.……the team arrived, apart from Mim who eventually rocked up just after the team talk ended. After a LONG walk to the pitch the 3s began their thorough warm up.

We started with push back however, Blackheath quickly won the ball and gained possession. Sowly but surely Canterbury fought back. With some gorgeous runs from Mim and Lottie we had a few chances at goal. The midfield worked tirelessly along side the defensive line to keep the scoreline at 0-0 by halftime.

After Lizzie’s motivating team talk, we were ready to put in our best effort in the next half. Bex commanded the midfield and worked with the girls to win a penalty corner. Scarlett struck the ball perfectly and was unlucky not to secure a goal. The girls continued to stay on top at this point. With some lovely ariels from Eli and transfers around the back we could tell Blackheath we’re getting agitated. The game began to get more scrappy.

One opposing player even grapped and threw a Canterbury stick after a messy tackle! Which the umpires seem to completely ignore!

Blackheath began attacking even more. There was some great defending on display by Gabs (who won MOM) alongside the rest of the team. As the team grew tired, with less than 10 minutes to go, a sneaky goal was scored by the other team. We continued to battle however were not able to get one back. A disappointing loss, and does not reflect the game or the effort. Well done team
