The 5s welcomed Ashford 2s on AW1 to kick off Super Saturday. Both sides made good chances in the first half, and a debut from Danny Laslett added extra pressure on the opposition defence, but it was Ashford who scored first. Canterbury responded well, and quickly replied with an equaliser thanks to yet another Gardiner goal. The second half was even better than the first, with Harrison Patching-Scott repeatedly denying the Ashford forwards, whilst successive Canterbury near misses kept the crowd guessing who would take the lead. Unfortunately Ashford did score a second, and somehow managed to repel the determined Canterbury attack to secure a 2-1 win. Special mention has to go to Freddie Post, who took a nasty knock during one chance on goal, and whilst he was more concerned by whether we’d scored, he showed some incredible bravery having just sustained a double break in his lower leg. Get well soon Freddie!
