After the high of winning our first game back last week Canterbury Ladies 1s were rearing to go again. Facing Southgate this week they travelled to London for the rearranged match. After running out to the flares, the starting whistle went. Southgate put pressure on early but Canterbury were able to control them and get good possession time. Unfortunately Southgate managed to sneak one in the back of the net. Canterbury struggled to react but went into the second quarter with more intensity. Finally being able to link more and more with players higher up the pitch we started to play even better hockey. Going into the second half we were 2-0 down but didn’t go down without a fight. Southgate unfortunately scored another in the third quarter but our relentless defending kept them out. Going into the fourth quarter Canterbury knew they had some work to do and their intensity and true grit outshined Southgate’s. The final score ended 4-0 despite many great saves from Becs. Our MOM was sophie piney for her fabulous defending and positivity. We’re back next week with Super Saturday and both the men and women facing Sevenoaks!!
