The 5s welcomed Sevenoaks 3s to a chilly AW3 for the first outing after Christmas. The first half started well with some good chances but Canterbury were caught on the break twice in close succession allowing Sevenoaks to scramble in their first goal, and follow it quickly with a well taken short-corner, putting them two up at the break.
The second half saw some shaky hockey and Sevenoaks piled on the pressure, only to be frequently denied by Harrison who took control in our D and made some blinding saves. However, even Harrison couldn’t stop yet another Holdstock own goal, which Sevenoaks soon followed up with another to put them four up. A late goal from Lee Gardiner made it a slightly more respectable 4-1 on the final whistle. All in all, not our best day in the office, with plenty to learn from and build on before our next game against the 4s!
