Canterbury L4s vs Gore Court 1s
On one of the coldest days so far, Canterbury Ladies 4s traveled to the bottom pitch to play Gore Court 1s for the second time. With grit and determination pumping through our veins, we were adamant to get the second half the season off to a good start. Following an inspiring team talk and a very thorough warmup while waiting for our goalkeeper to arrive, who may have been a little under the weather (but not self inflicted promise!) we were ready to take on the challenge of Gore Court.
Knowing it going to be a hard game Canterbury came out full force and took Gore Court by surprise. A lot of defending later we managed to get a short corner. A powerful injection from Georgia followed by a Nikki Triggs special fake over the ball and a shot which was gorgeously deflected by Rachel going into the goal but was abruptly stopped by the oppositions foot. Stroke! Nikki Triggs stepped up to take the stroke, and put it away tidily bottom right sending the keeper going the other way! Canterbury held on tight and made it to 1-0 at half time!
Holding back the relentless attacks that Gore Court sent our way, there was brilliant defending in the back line by Munnsey and Ellie when we when down to 10 men for 5 minutes no thanks to Nikki 📒. Lottie and Mim weren’t going to let the Gore Court players have it easy and put in 110% effort with miles and miles of non-stop running! A tumble from Ellie gave Gore Court a short corner but super Julie came in and saved the day (and the shot)! An unlucky break away goal meant that we drew 1-1, but it felt like a win to us. Well played all, onwards and upwards!! MOMs: Rachel and Kate
