Dear Diary,
It was soooolo cold and we were eager to get going and blow away those Christmas cobwebs. With a short warm up, we started the game with a high tempo and were rewarded with plenty of possession. Although they looked dangerous on the break, South Saxons were unable to capitalise on their opportunities. A short corner that didn’t quite go as planned still gifted us with a chance to score and after a solid first shot from Tara, which was saved, Chirpy made sure the rebound went in. Canterbury finished the first half 1-0 in the lead.
Although the second half was full of fantastic goal scoring opportunities (missed mostly by Chirpy!), luckily Cara was on hand to skilfully slot another one. South Saxons managed to score one past us in a bit of a goal-line scrabble and with the disallowing of a PC goal for Canterbury, the game finished 2-1 giving us 3 points and a good start to the second half of the season.
MOM went to Emma Dunn for a great performance following some time away and DOD went to Chirpy for the many goals she didn’t score!
