After a disappointing result last weekend against Eastbourne, the Pilgrims looked to get back to their winning ways as we took on Ashford 1s. We knew this would be a tough fixture against the local side however a great team performance put us on top. Given the debatable song choices from coach Valentine during the warm up, the boys set the standard of the game from the start, a brilliant finish by Golding into his own net saw Ashford go 1-0 up. The boys moved on from the unfortunate event and played some high level hockey bringing the score level to 1-1. Ashford bounced back from this with an interesting short corner routine but somehow found the net, 2-1 the score. The Pilgrims piled on the pressure throughout the rest of the game and a few roars from the crowd gave us the ever so needed final push. two goals in the final third saw the Pilgrims earn a well deserved three points. Special mentions go to Kortlang and Curtis for solid performances however Mr Hurst takes home this weeks MoM. Confidence is high in the team and the boys look forward to facing Folkestone next week.
