A Kent Derby away at Holcombe…a tough day at the office. We were missing our more mature players in defence, but we went out there to give Holcombe a good run for their money. The game started with high intensity, which Holcombe seemed to carry on throughout the whole game. We were 5-0 down at half time, this called for a ‘we have nothing to lose’ half-time talk. It certainly was a game of 2 halves – we fought back as much as we could which meant giving the shoulders back to Holcombe defence. Aurora made some cracking saves, Sophie Pinney giving it everything as always and Freya Sonnen with some great defending which led to a short corner won by Canterbury which Hannah Griggs converted beautifully into the net from a rebound. We held our own and only lost the second half 2-1. This made the score 7-1.
