Our first match on home turf and off the back of a great win last week, the team were positive for their next adventure against Aldershot and Farnham.
Right from the start Aldershot and Farnham showed all their cards and dominated with great link ups keeping us in our half. Their persistence paid off and it wasn’t long before their first penalty corner was awarded. Luke Thomas’s anticipation was slightly off and resulted with us being one man down, the boys rallied and defended well. This was the first of few penalty corners awarded to Aldershot and they eventually broke through with a low drag flick that went under the keeper’s leg. Not long after and another penalty corner resulted and they managed a tap in from the P Spot. We couldn’t break them and their determination was clear for all to see, we were unable to keep tight on them and with gaps in our midfield they hit from the 25 and a tap in saw them score for the third time.
The 2nd half started well for us, following a positive half time team talk and saw us wanting the ball and creating more link up play which must have frustrated Aldershot as it wasn’t long before the umpire reached for their cards. We were making ground with numerous long corners and penalty corners but were unable to break them down with a great save from Aldershot and one just wide of the post.
Both teams received cards, Canterbury 2 x green and 1 x yellow and Aldershot with a 1 x green and 1 x yellow.
