The ladies thirds had an intense game on Saturday 18th against Sevenoaks. A strong start from Canterbury meant that Sevenoaks felt the pressure immediately. The game became very equal with their attack coming through and winning a few short corners, however Canterbury persevered and managed to clear the ball on several occasions, delaying a goal from Sevenoaks. The ladies battled on, pushing through the sea of purple, the ball managed to slip past the defenders controlled impeccably by Nikki, a left right manoeuvre past the defender into the top of the D, smack, and resulted in a fantastic bottom left hand corner goal! This provided Canterbury with a lead, lifting the ladies spirits to keep the good work up! Unfortunately Sevenoaks managed to score an higgledy-piggledy goal, equalling the score to 1-1. Still, the Ladies powered on ending up with a goal from Anna, snatching the chance to chip the ball into the goal. Unfortunately a few discombobulated decisions made by the umpire in the second half, resulted Sevenoaks scoring a goal, much to the ladies disappointment. Canterburys spirits stayed positive however we only managed to score 2 goals, resulting with a draw. All the ladies played fantastically , working well together as a motivated team. Man of the match goes to Nikki and DOD goes to Anna (we won’t mention why). Well done ladies!
