Ladies 2nd XI vs Brighton and Hove Ladies 1’s (Home) | 04 Mar 23

Lost 5-3

Scorers: Chirpy (Hattrick Hero)

MoM: Chirpy

DoD: Chirpy

Canterbury Ladies 2s were ready to take on Brighton and try and take some points from the game. However, they started uncharacteristically slowly and allowed the opposition to score two goals in fairly quick succession within the first 20 minutes. Eventually, the team started to play much better hockey and after plenty of attacking play, a short corner was awarded. Canterbury’s plan nearly came to fruition but a save from Tilly’s drag flick initially denied them their first goal. However, reacting to the first save, Chirpy smashed the ball into the top of the net from the bebounded save taking the score to 2-1. With a renewed energy, Canterbury kept up the attack and another great piece of attacking play led to Chirpy getting her second of the match, deftly slotting the ball between the keeper’s legs. The first half ended at 2-2.
The second half was much like the first and this allowed Brighton to score 3 more goals although there were some harsh decisions which contributed towards them. Chasing the score line, Canterbury didn’t give up and their efforts were rewarded when a short corner deflection from Chirpy meant the game finished 5-3 to Brighton.
