On a surprisingly warm Saturday morning the girls stepped out ready win against the strong Marden side. The game got off to a strong start with the girls immediately pressing the Marden side. A strong ball went from Lizzie uninterrupted to Vicky at Mardens D, which ultimately ended in a fabulous goal dribbled around the goalie. Having achieved a goal in the first few minutes the Canterbury side were excited about more goals to follow, however Marden stepped up and secured a goal after a tough struggle in Canterbury’s D. The rest of the half continued with the girls fighting a tough battle but ultimately ended without any more goals. The second half commenced and both sides were ready to go, having beaten the Marden side in pre season but lost during a previous match to them, Marden were physical but Canterbury were strong and determined to get the 3 points.
Some beautiful runs down the line by Eleni who received the ball from Martha got the girls into the oppositions D once again, where a well deserved short corner was awarded. Well executed by Vicky and Sophie, with touches from Irmak and finally Eleni slotted it home put us 2-1 up. We finished off the game on a high note, battled hard to remain winning and the full time whistle finally blew leaving the girls with the 3 points needed and very well deserved.
