Won 0 – 6
Hip-Hop crew ‘De La Soul’ penned the lyrics: “Three, that’s the magic number”, and it would appear that this sentiment is true for the Millers who are seemingly only able to win and lose in multiples of three in recent weeks.
Up against a Sittingbourne 2XI flying high at the top of the table, it was always going to be a tough outing. The home side were buoyed by a cameo appearance from the effervescent Chris Laslett, playing as sweeper in his first match returning from long-term injury; an unexpectedly busy day for him.
The home side were 3-0 down by half time, all from well-rehearsed short corner routines, and a further three were conceded, without, reply in the second half. The only redeeming feature was the early push-back, which meant that there was plenty of time for some consolation beers in the sun afterwards. The Millers are back on the road next week, targeting three points (or even one) from an Ashford team slightly nearer the same end of the table as themselves.
