The ‘Grims had a disappointing return fixture to South Saxons last weekend, so really needed to bounce back against bottom of the league and that they did!
The first hurdle of the week was selection, a tough week at the office indeed for VC Adminzi, but nevertheless a bare 11 was forged!
I no not much of the game due to my own unavailability (who plans a stag do in the hockey season?…….) however, I am told that it was a strong performance especially from defensive duo Crane and Entwistle. First half goals from skipper Kier and Ethan saw a 2-0 lead at the break!
The good guys were unable to further their lead in the second half, despite the best efforts of Dave ‘big swing no ding’ Shelley!
A big flipper to the ball saw Entwistle take a 2 minute breather late the game – probably just wanted the rest! The game remained at 2-0, but thanks to other results going our way, has seen us jump up to 9th position.
A greatly anticipated rematch next week as we host Ashford 1s, following a close fought 3-3 draw under the lights at Ball Lane last October. Followed by Herne Bay away on the 11th!
