Canterbury travelled to Bristol with a full squad of 16 in high spirits after a good indoor season. Many of which stayed overnight enjoying some team bonding. The first quarter saw Bristol start the stronger of the two teams threading balls into dangerous areas. Canterbury defended well as a unit and started to slowly grow into the game. In the second quarter Canterbury stepped up, controlling the play with balls from the back line with the likes of Malta and Meakin feeding Bean and Roberts as they grew into the game. As Canterbury upped their attacking D penetrations and got a few shots on target, Ras “The Rabbit” scored with a delicious chip (some could say mistimed slap) over the Bristol keeper to put the boys in White and Green 1 – 0 up at half-time.

The third quarter saw the game open up as both teams left space across the pitch looking for a goal. Canterbury had chances with shots from Ray, Craig and Jack but to no avail. Marshal and co. at the back were alert throughout to stop any Bristol counter attacks. A number of cards to both teams meant that both sides were exposed but neither team could capitalise. Canterbury built up the pressure winning a number of corners in a row with efforts from Bean and Young but did not convert. A few moments later, Raz “The Rabbit” was hacked down in the D to win a penalty stroke which he calmly placed into the bottom corner giving the away team a 2 goal cushion. On the stroke of full time, Richford decided that it would be a great idea to body a university student giving away a penalty corner (waiting for a nibble), but then followed to pick the ball on the line giving Canterbury a well deserved clean sheet and 3 points.

Thanks to all of those that made the journey down to support.
