Canterbury 4 v Holcombe 4
On a cold Saturday afternoon at home, the ladies fours rocked up for their game against Holcombe. After Ellie Gordon stood in a puddle and proceeded to drop her shirt in it. Moi running on the pitch and straight back off again to retrieve her shin pads, no-one was really quite sure how this game was going to go.
With the absence of Nikki & Sibs, the pre-team talk had been sent the night before and the usual game plan had been set, to dominate from the start and after only 3 minutes a shot corner was awarded and the ladies went 1-0 up with a goal from Jinane
The ladies continued to dominate the game and worked hard with a second goal from Milney from another short corner.
Next was the turn of Moi, positioned beautifully at the top of the D, who fired the ball into the back of the net to bring the score to 3-0.
After a lovely dainty fall from Moi in the D, the team were concerned if she was going to get back up…. but Moi jumped into action and drove the ball in to score after a deflection off a Holcombe player.
Half time ended 4-0
The ladies continue to dominate the game, leaving Georgia very little to do at the back, Holcombe had there only chance of the game with a great save from Georgia and Jess managing to clear the ball off the line.
With several substitutions this left an incredibly youthful team on the pitch, but there was certainly not a lack of hockey skills and Zoe Triggs scored a well deserved goal to take the final score to 5-0
