Hi Lizzie this is the match report :
On a cold and rainy day, the ladies thirds arrived at Kent College Pembury ready for what they knew was going to be a tough game against the Tunbridge first team. Despite a lack of facilities the girls were in high spirits and ready to play. The Canterbury side started aggressively and with many fast runs down the right hand meant Canterbury were awarded several short corners, but were unable to convert them. However the tables turns with a counter attack from the strong opposition and Canterbury were given a short corner against them, with a penalty corner awarded against them afterwards. The girls conceded their first goal from this penalty, but were still in high spirits as the game continued. The girls went back and forth, but struggled to get the ball out of the defence due to the oppositions high press, however a few breakthroughs were made in an attempt to score a goal. Yet the Tunbridge side were incredibly strong and passed a long ball back from their circle to Canterbury’s circle and scored a short sharp goal against the still recovering side.the second half couldn’t come soon enough, but the break gave the girls the motivation they needed to continue and they battled it out in the second half despite the harsh wind and the strengthening Tunbridge side. It was played in a mostly defensive manner by the Canterbury side, and the girls conceded a third goal. The full time whistle finally blew and the game came to an end. A tough but good game today girls, keep up the good work
