Lost 2-1

Canterbury ladies 2s started off the rather bleak day with a very confident first few minutes, the ball being moved quickly up the pitch for Lottie to win a penalty flick which was then scored by Chirpy. (Yay) Continuing to use transfers and work in pairs with good ball speed, Canterbury continued to make more chances and so, won several short corners. Unfortunately due to some good defending from the opposition, these didn’t lead to anymore goals. Although we managed to hold possession for much of the match, Bromley and Beckenham had some strong passes up the line which resulted in some close breaks, and towards the end of the first half they won a short corner (luckily the shot was disallowed as was too high!)
Throughout the second half Canterbury worked well together, shutting down players in pairs without committing, forcing more mistakes in the their play. Due to our high positioning however the ball was turned over after a 16 and the opposition transferred the ball round our left half resulting in a two on one against Becs and a goal being scored making the score 1:1. Another short was given soon after was followed by a penalty flick for Bromley and Beckenham brought the score to 2:1. However Canterbury continued relentlessly with great 2v1s across the pitch, allowing us to work round the opposition and win many short corners. We couldn’t quite find the right combination to convert another goal to even the score, but oh well it’s nearly Christmas!
