Won 0-6
Scorers: Libby x2 Ellie x2 Scarlett x2
MoM: Rachel
After a tactical team talk from Foxy, the 5s sprang into action with a goal in the first minute, scored by Libby.
It came from a well-placed cross from Scarlett that followed some efficient team play down the right wing.
Fourteen minutes later, Ellie scored the first of her brace, with the second one only 4 minutes later. Both goals neatly finished after more impressive team play working the ball into the D.
Three minutes before half time, Scarlett used the space created by her teammates to drive into the D and strike the ball sweetly past the keeper.
Half-time 4-0 to Canterbury.
The second half was a bit more frustrating. With the umpires making unpredictable calls and the opposition upping their play, we had to play with patience and belief to secure our 5th goal in the 59th minute – a second for Libby – after several strong attempts from Sapphire (but it wasn’t to be her day!)
Scarlett scored her second, another sweetly struck shot from the edge of the D, in the 68th minute, to round off a well-deserved 6-0 win.
MOM goes to Rachel for her succession of strong runs through midfield to set up an array of attacking possibilities.
Special mention to Ava, making her league debut in goal. She was calm, decisive and in the right place at the right times! Elizabeth also impressed on debut, showing versatility and maturity when playing in a variety of positions.
Best wishes to Maryke for a speedy recovery after she pulled a hamstring midway through the second half.
Well played everyone! Let’s hope for another good performance next week against Sevenoaks (2:45pm on AW2)
