Men’s 1st XI vs Team Bath (Away) | 13 Nov 22

Drew 3-3

Scorers: Rasmussen x3

MoM: Rea

DoD: Boyne

With an away trip to Bath it was an early start for some, whilst others enjoyed what the city had to offer throughout the weekend. Sunny conditions greeted the team as they arrived at the university facilities and soon after the boys were underway.

The green and white army went ahead first as Rasmussen slotted away after a lovely move down the baseline. However, the hosts replied soon after scoring a PC and a field goal soon after in Q1. Struggling to find their feet, Canterbury went 3-1 down after Bath converted another corner but replied right before HT as Rasmussen beat the goalie 1v1 and hit a backhand into the empty net.

The HT team talk saw the boys restructure and get their heads together as they were still in the game and were off on the front foot with Rasmussen getting his back to back hat-trick after Young flung a ball in getting a deflection to put it into the goal. Soon after the game opened up and became more end to end with Bath winning a Penalty Stroke. Having predicted the future saying, “They always go stick side”, Rea made a fine save diving to his top right keeping the ball out of the net.

Both teams had several chances to win the game but some fine saves from both goalies meant that the game finished 3-3. Canterbury move up to 3rd place hoping to finish the first half of the season on a high with Presidents Day on Sunday as we play Brighton followed by another journey to the South West to Bristol.

Thanks for all those that made the journey to support the boys. See you next week.
