The Ladies’ 1st team played Witney HC this weekend at Polo in hope to gain 3 points. The match started with good intensity from both sides, but no goals were conceded in the first quarter.
From the strength of our midfield, it gave us plenty of opportunities to win penalty corners and attack at goal. However, a quick counterattack from Witney put them in the lead.
Throughout the game, there were many short corners given for both teams. With Witney still taking the lead, it wasn’t long before Barnsey equalised from a short corner to put us back in the game.
Canterburys forward press pressured Witneys defence on many occasions with great skill and speed. But, with many missed opportunities, there were no goals from the home side.
A penalty flick was awarded to the opposing team, where they took the lead and the score line remained this way until the end whistle. MOM goes to Aurora for some great saves throughout the game. Unfortunately DOD goes to Tilly- not sure why but thanks guys.
