Despite traveling to Burnt Ash with a squad depleted by illness, Canterbury M10s put in a dominant performance on the road to secure a hard-fought draw.
Canterbury controlled the tempo early, constantly applying pressure until Jonah broke the game open with an audacious aerial from the right hand baseline to the top left of the D. Jamie’s saved shot fell kindly to Beau who pounced on the opportunity, unleashing a brilliant reverse-stick flick to put the visitors ahead. Canterbury continued to knock on the door, but the Burnt Ash goalkeeper delivered a standout performance to keep the margin at one.
Burnt Ash found an equaliser on the breakaway in the second half, with the counter-attack ably supported by one of their 2nd XI players who had kindly stayed on to give the hosts a full squad of 16 players.
Seeking a winner, Canterbury launched relentless attacks right up until the final whistle but couldn’t find anyone in the D with the same accuracy that Phil Jones managed to pass to the opposition’s centre forward.
