“Experience + Youth = Goals, Goals, Goals”

On a very early and very chilly morning, the Canterbury Ladies 4s arrived with a brilliant mix of speedy U18s, couple 20 year old’s and experienced over-40s proving that when you combine energy and wisdom, great hockey happens.

From the first whistle, Canterbury took control and spent much of the game on the attack, with the defence calmly supporting behind and stepping in when needed.

The breakthrough came early: Munnsy threaded a fantastic pass into the D, where Moi finished confidently for the opening goal.

Despite a huge number of chances (we lost count somewhere in the millions), more goals just refused to arrive in the first half. Strong runs, great passes, near misses—everything but the final touch.

In midfield, Niamh put in a strong performance, working seamlessly alongside Izzy, Megan, and Hermione to keep possession and move the ball forward with pace and control.

K Sports came out after halftime with more pressure, but the 4s quickly regained control and pushed high again. After a series of short corners, perseverance paid off when Hermione struck from a well-worked routine, making it 2–0.

The defence stayed solid throughout, while also contributing to the attack. Lizzie and Isla made impressive overlapping runs from the back, helping to keep Canterbury camped high up the pitch.

With momentum fully in Canterbury’s favour, the goals kept coming. Moi added two more from open play, including a stunning strike into the top-right corner—one for the highlights reel for sure. Hat trick, the win and Player of the Match secured!

Up front, Vickie and Poppy worked tirelessly, making great runs to stretch the K Sports defence and create space for the attacking line.

Shout out to our GK, Ava, who managed to kept her concentration despite being very cold and not touching the ball all game.

A dominant performance from start to finish and another brilliant result for the 4s.
