Another day at the office and once again a difficult one for the Friars who after 4 games languish at the foot of their league.

With three new guys from the Tens (James, Harry and and Connor) not forgetting evergreen Chris Hendy returning to active duty but now signed up for the Friars off we went.
John-boy Aikin had switched from striker to sweeper – as one does – and was the last man standing before Trigger, who once again put in an amazing shift – he really does get good value for his match fee. However he was unable to keep out a reverse strike from a ridiculous angle leaving Folkestone ahead. They soon clinched another goal. And whilst the Friars battled manfully or in these times personfully they were unable to make much headway. There was a short corner but this came to nothing and was a bit of a waste. However with Jarryd Ramdunnie physically dominant in midfield, though a touch on the rusty side with stick skills, a goal came when he passed to The Scribbler who got his first strike for many a month (shurely many a year -ed?) and about time too. At halftime we went in at 2-1 down.

The second half was similar to the first with a lot of work being done by everybody in the Friars especially Jamie Harris and Guy with Hendy slotting back in nicely. However all to not a lot of real effect with passing needing a lot of practising! Folkestone then got another outrageous reverse angle strike and we were 3-1 down.

10 minutes from the end Jarryd again driving into The D slipped one and amazingly Hayward hit a rocket ending pirouetting onto his back, a move that Trigger said would have got a 10 on Strictly Come Dancing – Jonesy’s favourite programme not! With the Friars striving for the equaliser they pushed hard but an unfortunate injury to a young Folkestone player meant the game had to finish a bit early and that was it until next week – it’s Blackheath Highwaymen away…lovely jubbly.

Many thanks to Nick Scott-Kilvert and Terry Lees for their expert umpiring.
