Canterbury vs Richmond: the second game of the season and the first at the fortress. Canterbury were in high spirits, looking to build on a good performance last weekend.
The game started, and Canterbury were looking dangerous, winning a lot of turnover up the pitch, but nothing came of the relentless pressure.
However, Richmond were quick to open up the scoring on the first attack.
Despite Richmond scoring early on, it didn’t faze the boys in green and white as they continued to keep piling on the pressure, which soon paid off with Cal slapping the ball into the roof of the net, 1-1.
Canterbury were not finished just yet; early pressure from Mack saw him win the ball high up the field and dirfting past horrid tackles from Richmond in their own circle, but there was no need for a penalty corner or a stroke because Harrison Smith was in the correct position to gently place the ball into the goal. 2-1 to the boys in green and white. Hungry for more, Canterbury showed that they wanted to prove a point to the league as Dom won us a penalty stroke. Calling up the big guns from the back, Ben Young, full of confidence, converted, making it 3-1.
A great result against a strong physical side proved to the league that we are ready for the season ahead. Massive thanks to everyone that came up to support, and we hope to see you next week
