Following a short committee meeting lasting all of 3 seconds the DOD was unanimously agreed; the skipper only had one thing to do and failed at that! The picture tells a colourful story of the jumble sale of tops and colours used as team strip after the official sponsored shirts had been left back up the M2!
After much amusement on this the game started and within 4 minutes we were on the score board. K Sports are a club in much trouble after their ground was bought from under their feet at the beginning of the season. Following this it is plain to see they have lost many players, some committee members and clearly some heart on the pitch also. Whilst a very much poorer side than beat us before Christmas at Polo it was a pleasure to watch the Squires play some excellent hockey and deserve the flattering score line.
The midfield efficiently mopped up any offences and from many of the breakdowns in the middle of the pitch set the pacy strikers on their way. Kai scored three and Will two after excellent approaches and being in the right place to put away clever passes. Jim and Stuart both contributed to the score with finishes from short corners. The defence and David in goal had a moments thought about claiming a refund on match fees having rarely touched the ball but were happy to have paid to ‘watch’ such an excellent performance.
Still a couple of the top sides in the league to play against but certainly feels like we have secured our place in the league for another season.
