It was a sunny and warm Saturday morning up at the University of Greenwich, against Burnt Ash (Bexley) Ladies 1s. It started with a Canterbury push back, where we quickly advanced up field, however Burnt Ash were strong and quick to fight back.

The umpires, one in particular was keen to keep blowing his whistle rather assertively- unfortunately more often done than not with an incorrect decision. This caused frustration for both teams who were equally baffled! After a lot of back and forth up the pitch Burnt Ash managed to get the ball past the line, resulting in the first goal.

Still determined Canterbury remained strong with Chirpy making some strong tackles, in efforts to keep them away from our defence. Unfortunately Burnt Ash put away another goal making it 2-0 to them at half time.

After a positive half time team talk- Canterbury were ready to fight back to try to level out the score. With some amazing tackles from the middle and defence, combined with some great runs from the attack, Canterbury made it into their Defence. We had a couple of shots which were saved, with an unsuccessful follow up.

Burnt Ash received several cards, Canterbury had a few hilarious mini-strops but we could not get the ball over the line.

By the end of the match Burnt Ash had managed to put away another 2 goals, leading them to win the match 4-0, which is in no way a reflection of how well Canterbury played.
