It was a sunny day, perfect for the Mears family derby part 2, where the only thing more entertaining than the game was the players! Canterbury started off a bit slow, like they were still waking up, and found themselves under pressure. But with some calm defending from Alex and Munnsey, the younger players started to gain confidence and make some nice plays. Just when they thought they were getting into it, Sittingbourne managed to sneak in a quick goal!
Canterbury wasn’t ready to give up though. They began creating chances in the attacking circle, and it was great to see Ellie Alywin back after an 18-month break from the green and whites! Kate had some great moments making some crucial tackles and fabulous passes!
Then there was Neive, who went for a tackle but left her stick behind on the pitch—oops! And Savanna, tripped over her own feet like she was in a comedy show. Plenty of giggles to take our minds off the score!
Our efforts were rewarded when we finally scored, but Savanna somehow forgot the rules that you can’t kick the ball prior to shooting, so the goal was sadly disallowed. In the end, it was a 1-0 loss, but the team are keeping their spirits up and looking forward to the next match.
