Another one of those games of three halves!
Braving the freezing coastal fog, the 10’s congregated for a cool outing at Folkestone after a month away with the news that the match would be live streamed on the internet!
Folkestone had the opening going 1 up in the first few minutes, but Canterbury steadily improved (after we had all raised our body temperatures to above freezing!) and controlled much of the game, with the juniors tirelessly trying to unpick the midfield and Folkestone’s defence resulting in 6 brilliant goals and easily as many near misses with seniors Merv and Kai up there in the mix (and the occasional cameo from JC!)
Even with deep booming of drums echoing round Cheriton from the nearby Folkestone FC stadium Canterbury stayed strong and managed to keep a resurgent Folkestone out (mostly) over the last 10 minutes.
Great team performance with lots of intelligent moving and game play. Kai gets a special mention for his short corner defensive skills at the end being able to arrive at the same time as the injected ball at the top of the D denying Folkestone a flurry of late chances.
As for the live streaming we think that they packed up early, either the game was too exciting or more likely their kit wasn’t sufficiently winterised!
Welcome to Harry Lomas and congratulations on his 10s debut and thanks to Michael and Ed for steering proceedings from the sidelines.
Luke
