The game started positively, with good ball possession and pressing from the forwards resulting in multiple turnovers and chances towards goal. At quarter time, we reflected that we had opportunities to take the lead and needed to capitalise on these in the second quarter.
We went back out and started well, trying to transfer the ball and attack down the opposite side. Unfortunately, a mis trap at the back led to their forward picking up the ball and slotting it into the back of the net to leave us 1-0 down at half time.
After a slightly deflated half time, captain Clewlow rallied the team and the second half started with some dynamic leads and speed from debutant Holly. After an excellent surging run, she narrow missed the far post and went on to create many more opportunities and bag the man of the match status.
Despite creating multiple chances we were still unable to score and Sevenoaks took advantage of a turnover ball and an overload at the back to score their second. At this point we had lost our momentum and despite our best efforts to get back in the game it was frustrating afternoon that ended in a 2-0 defeat.
Onto another away fixture against Spencer next week, where we hope to come back fighting.
