In a closely contested match, the Pilgrims faced Ashford in what turned out to be a hard-fought battle that ended in a narrow defeat. The first half saw both teams exhibiting equal skill and determination, with chances created on both ends. However, just a few minutes before halftime, Ashford broke the deadlock with a well-timed goal, leaving the Pilgrims trailing 0-1 at the break.
Eager to turn the tide, the Pilgrims came out strong in the second half, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Their efforts, however, were met with misfortune as they conceded another goal from a reverse hit, extending Ashford’s lead to 0-2.
The Pilgrims responded resolutely and managed to find the net themselves, with a deflected shot from a short corner by Kortlang, bringing the score to 1-2. With renewed hope, the Pilgrims pressed for an equaliser and were awarded four short corners in the dying moments of the match, but they were unable to capitalise on these opportunities, leaving the final score at 1-2.
Congratulations to Tommy Roger’s for a getting well deserved man of the match for a good all round performance.
Despite the loss, the Pilgrims showcased resilience and determination throughout the match. They will look to regroup and bounce back in their next fixture.
