After what has been a rollercoaster of a season, the Pilgrims faced their final challenge of the season against local side Holcombe in what would be a tight battle. Pilgrims started strong, showing some excellent play going forward. A beautiful finish by the skipper saw us go 1-0 up early into the first half. Half time gave coach Valentine the opportunity to spread some wise words to the group and this clearly worked as early into the second half Mr Holness slotted one past the very strong Holcombe keeper. The Pilgrims battled on and although under a lot of pressure the boys fought hard and gave it their all to walk away with a well deserved 2-1 victory to finish the season strong. A very respectable 6th in the table for the Pilgrims this season, there have been so many positives to take away from the season and special mentions to all of the junior players for their fantastic performances over the course of the year, we wish them well as some of them move on to university or going down to the 2s;) big thank you to the skipper Simon Buckingham for all his efforts this season and to coach Valentine for giving up his time on a Wednesday evening and Saturday morning coaching the peoples 1s.
