Ladies 4 v Cliftonville
After a fabulous warmup led by Moi to Reach For The Stars by S-club7, the sun came out and we went into the game feeling prepared and ready to take on Cliftonville.
The first half went smoothly and Canterbury dominated the possession. Within 10 minutes Holly had taken the ball calmly around the keeper and popped it sweetly in the goal! 1-0
Not long after, Sophie found herself in the attacking D scoring the second goal with a beautifully placed shot just inside the post. 2-0
Zoe’s newly acquired skill of stick stopping (courtesy of mums mid-week living room skills sessions!) was called into action with a number of short corners. Then with one minute left of the half, Holly hit the post and it fell for Sapphire who kept her composure and gave us a 3-0 lead!!!
The start of second half the opposition stepped up a little and put pressure on our defence, and with Moira in the back line this week, along with Maddie, Ellie and Liv putting in a good stint we made life difficult for Cliftonville. However their 10 minute persistent spell Cliftonville were rewarded with a goal.
Canterbury got back into their stride and were unlucky not to score again. Final score 3-1.
