Ladies 5’s travelled way too far to Brom and Becs for a 12:45 PB. With almost more coaches than players and a mélange of experience we weren’t sure what the outcome would be. A long long trek uphill to the pitch followed by a thorough warm up to ensure we were about to bring our A-game.
With Sophie winning the first PB, we started off strong and on the front foot. With beautiful play and a solid run from Holly round one round another into the D and BOSH, a goal on her debut for the ladies section!!
Ten minutes later we had a beautiful pass from Holly P through the defence into Zoe who took it into the D neatly placed it past the keeper at the far post and making it 2-0.
Half time came and with Nigel excitedly telling us about the oppositions weaknesses we weren’t sure if they were taking his advice into the next half.
With an unfortunate PS given against us, Ava made a terrific effort and unfortunately put it on the post where it bounced in. With revenge built up inside Canterbury, we peppered their defence and Isobel neatly placed it into their backboard, 3-1. Not allowing Brom and becks to come back at us Claire worked tirelessly in midfield and pressed and ran so much that it allowed Izzy Lutz to dampen their spirits in the brilliant sunshine 3 minutes later with another brilliant first time shot!! 4-1! Brom and becs came at us hard, but fortunately we had Eva (who was also a debutant) in defence picking up any scraps and stopping the opposition from getting past, she was literally a brick wall! Our other debutant Holly ended up on the floor for more of the game than she was on her feet at this point!
Ensuring we weren’t falling asleep our ‘el capitán’ showed us the way forward and put another tidy goal past their keeper 5-1!! With Brom and Becs taking their pushback, we was not giving them any sympathy, we pressed straight away and Zoe got the ball, megged one, two, round another and into the D with Izzy Rowney in the perfect position for a first time slap into the corner past the keeper to end the game at 6-1! Absolutely brilliant play from everyone, let’s keep this up!!
