Canterbury started well against Brighton and capitalised early on with a Callum Brown-Lea flick from a short corner to go 1-0 up. Brighton fought back and won a corner which was converted on a rebound to level the match despite Chris Rea’s best efforts to keep it out in goal. Canterbury won another short which saw Callum step up again scoring another drag flick this time through the keeper. Brighton’s first runner decided to headbutt Callum on the way through too which resulted in some blood!
The second half saw Canterbury play nicely keeping possession and making good connections down the flanks. Rhys Harmer had a few chances inside the D which were well saved by the Brighton GK. Brighton had some chances on the break which were kept out by Chris Rea in goal.
Brighton levelled the game with a counter attack down the left. Canterbury had overcommitted players to an attack which left them vulnerable defensively and was tipped in by a Brighton player to make the game 2-2.
The Canterbury midfield presence was growing in the game, recieving balls in pockets & threading balls into dangerous areas. Despite good chances for Canterbury they failed to capitalise on chances. With the last bit of play Brighton had a short corner which was slipped left and slapped in to take the 3 points. The lads will train hard this week to make amends for some disappointing results to get back to winning ways.
