In the 4th round of the O35 Cup Canterbury drew Sevenoaks away. A rather late afternoon fixture in half term meant a few unavailabilities but we managed to get a full squad with subs! Always a treat at this level! With a Vets Debut from 2 returning Canterbury members from days gone by we welcomed Nikki Taggert (on a weekend break from Ireland) and Juliet Chapman (soon to be relocating to the area).
Canterbury came out strong but were unable to take the lead and it was Sevenoaks who scored first following a certain someone passing to the centre forward! Thankfully Mel came up trumps and scored from a short corner to make it all square at half time. With a few words of encouragement at half time we knew the game was up for the taking and soon after half time Mel scored another short corner.
Canterbury had most of the posession and it was then Cara who rode a fair few stick tackles, with a great advantage played by the one and only Andy Mair, Cara went on to unleash a cracking shot from a wide angle into the bottom corner making it 3-1.
Shortly after from another corner Juliet scored from left slip crowning off her debut performance with a goal.
Unfortunately, Canterbury went to sleep and from the restart Sevenoaks scored a second leaving a tense last few minutes.
Thankfully the score remained 4-2 with the ladies progressing to the quater finals. A great result, well deserved and onto the next one.
