A tough day at the office! The first half was a real reminder of how long we have been on a break since before Christmas! Gravesham came out the blocks with purpose and speed; two short corners, one impressive ‘lbs’ and a goal from free play saw us 4 – 0 down at half time.
It was agreed we would not simply pack up and would compete in the second half – it must be said that without some impressive keeping the score could have been worse; Barnie demonstrated he was well worth his place and although young should aim higher within the club. The back line of Nick, Graeme, David (L & S) continued to fight hard and with the help of Jim, James (C & L) and David having to play a defensive midfield all showed true Canterbury spirit. Peter and Archie ran hard throughout trying to make an impression but younger and fitter opposition made it difficult to break up the pitch. Indeed Archie showed real promise and will surely bounce up the sides in the club.
A decent tea afterwards and all staying on showed the spirit of the side is not broken – we will be back!!
