The grims looked to start off the new year strongly by beating Gore Court in a grudge match where 1 point separated the two.
The game started off with a fearsome intensity as both teams looked to snatch an early lead. After exchanging early attacks, Gore Court managed to win themselves multiple dubious short corners after being on the back foot. Disaster struck as a short corner was converted by their drag flicker which was fired into the top corner of the net leaving the defence no chance to stop it. With momentum on their side they pushed for a second where not much later after a scrappy mess in the box the ball fell to an attacker on the edge which was fired at goal and deflected in high at the back post.
The grims managed to get one back through some driving runs in the midfield, some exquisite one touch passing and incredible movement in the D which saw will Upton free at the back post to put the ball into an open net and grab a goal back just before half time.
As we progressed into the second half the dominance by grims was seen as we barely conceded any promising attacks and had most of the possession. This control led to the grims creating some good chances where the keeper saved it or was just wide of the post and winning multiple short corners to test the keeper. However, despite the bombardment we were unable to find that second illusive goal as their keeper saved the day on multiple occasions and Gore Court managed to hold onto the victory.
